When it comes to finding health insurance in the great state of Kentucky the options are limitless. Not one resident should have to choose to go uninsured. All it takes is a little homework and you can find the best options for you.

Kentucky residents still remain uninsured despite all the options. Roughly 12% of them are still not insured. That 12% is risking huge financial doom and studies have shown they will not get the health care they need. It is just not worth the risks you see.

One choice you may have is group insurance through your employer. If you have health conditions this may be a perfect option since they must cover that condition. One disadvantage is that you must take the one plan fits all and dependent coverage can be very expensive since your employer typically only shares cost of your premium.

If group insurance is not an option or you need something more affordable for you or your dependents you can check out individual health insurance. Individual insurance is offered by most carriers. This option allows you freedom to choose benefit packages based on you rneeds and budget. The disadvantage is that they can decline or put limitations on pre exisiting health conditions.

If you are declined there is another option however. Kentucky has a state risk pool, or Kentucky Access as they call it. This program makes health insurance available to those who would otherwise be declined coverage due to a health condition.

Kentucky also has a state mandated plan called KCHIP, which stands for Kentucky Children’s Health Insurance Program. It provide low cost health insurance to low income families for children under the age of 18. If you have children with no insurance you must check it out!

For those left with no options you should visit your local Kentucky Department of Medicaid Services. They offer government funded options to residents. Qualified people will get health benefits as well as other assistance to help them meet their needs.

Whatever you situation do not go uninsured. The risk is not worth it. You have many options to explore. It just takes a little research and knowledge. Don’t hesitate make sure you have the health insurance you deserve today.
