Quitting smoking may in fact be the hardest thing you’ve ever decided to do. However, there is hope. Many people have spent thousands of dollars on stop smoking aids that don’t work. Now you can stop smoking naturally.

I’m sure many of you have tried hypnosis, acupuncture, zyban and likely many other stop smoking aids. Many of you have probably rushed out to get every new stop smoking aid you’ve heard of. I’ve been there. So you’ve tried everything else, why not try herbs to help you stop smoking.

Look at it this way, herbs are commonly used for cooking, medicinal purposes, for adding flavour, and even for making tea. Why not use them to stop smoking too. Let’s take a closer look at some of the herbs that are reported to help you stop smoking.

Lobelia is reported to be very effective in greatly reducing addiction to nicotine. Lobelia contains lobeline, which has many of the same calming effects of nicotine. It is also non-addictive, making for a good substitute for nicotine. However, it is a very toxic herb and excessive use can be harmful, so you should see your doctor or pharmacist before taking lobeline.

Have you ever heard of insomnia, nervousness and anxiety being described as side effects of quitting smoking. Well this next herb is used to treat those symptoms already. Therefore many researchers feel it will be an excellent tool to help people stop smoking. It is called Avena Sativa.

Smoking is reported to decrease the memory of smokers, and decrease the blood flow in the body. Well, Gotu Kola, also known as Centella Asiatica when taken in appropriate amounts helps to improve memory, and also to improve blood circulation throughout the body. Thus it helps to control the damaging effects of smoking.

Now for a herb that is reported to not only stifle ones natural desire to smoke, but also to fight the much dreaded side effect, weight gain. It’s true, these are qualities attributed to the herb known as Garcinia Cambogia.

A few other herbs that have been said to help people stop smoking are Goldenseal, oak, willow, and Korean Ginseng. Korean Ginseng probably isn’t that unfamiliar of a name to you, and it’s natural stress relieving properties make it an excellent ally. Another one that will knock your socks off, is catnip. Yes I said catnip, we’ll probably see smokers around the world fighting their cats for the catnip, but hey if it works, why not!!

An important type of herb to include in your attempt to quit smoking is one to get rid of the toxins in the blood. Burdock root and Red clover are excellent examples of herbs that are known to have this quality.
